My screensaver consists of a folder that is absolutely STUFFED with pieces of art that I've collected through the years. Images I've saved from DeviantArt, personal sites, forums, and journals. I'm proud of it. It's a great collection and I always get compliments on it.
My external HD failed this week. That means that collection is GONE. Not a huge deal, most of the art there I could get back from DA but I'm pretty disappointed to find that a lot of the images I really love are now reduced in size and have that godaweful ugly DA watermark plastered across the center. Bleh. I mean.. I guess I understand that there are enough shitheads on DA to force artists to take this action to preserve their work but, seriously? It kills the image. I don't even want to see it if it's got that mark.
The one good thing about this whole ordeal is that I've been forced to do a little more research on the artists I love in order to find better quality versions of the images I love. In doing so I've found so much more. <3
Also, I've lost all of my personal photos and I now get to struggle with the decision of pursuing a data recovery plan that could cost anywhere from $100 - $800+. Are the photos from the last 5 years of my life worth that much? I know Mau has backups from our trips... but all of my Mesa Verde photos, shots of Stirling, photos of friends and family, all gone.
Oh yeah. All my art was on there. All of it. Every piece. The stuff on here isn't original size. ;_;
This whole technology thing is very frustrating.

I really do have a lot of stuff from you, even old drawings! I´m thinking about making you a CD for my next letter, and putting everything I own about images, in. It wouldn´t be that much of a big help recovering your stuff but, it´s a good start! Would you like that?
Good luck with it, dear. I hope you can get your things back!
I hope that other areas of your life are going better.
